V2G labels: share your views before 25 October

ElaadNL hosted a successful kick-off webinar on V2G labels on 13 October 2026, with 140 registrations from companies across Europe. The session presented an initial proposal for clearer information about the V2G capabilities of electric vehicles and charging stations. We have already received many responses. Professionals and interested organizations can still submit their views and questions before 25 October.

Commercial vehicle-to-grid (V2G) services are emerging in Europe, but ‘V2G-ready’ claims can leave consumers uncertain about what they are buying. A label should clarify which vehicles and charging stations work together, in which countries, and under what conditions.

For grid operators, consumer confidence and interoperability are important conditions for making V2G flexibility widely available.

Technical requirements and verification

For ElaadNL, a label should describe V2G functionality that works in practice. The proposal distinguishes between AC and DC V2G and considers different levels of technical maturity, based on support for ISO 15118-20, grid connection requirements and interoperability. National differences in grid requirements also need to be considered.

Feedback is still welcome

The scope, requirements and organization of the label remain open for discussion. Which minimum requirements should apply? Would different maturity levels be useful? How should compliance be verified, and who should manage the scheme? Suggestions on a realistic launch date are also welcome.

Further development depends on sufficient market support. The proposed next step is to establish a core team and market support group and agree on activities and a timetable. Organizations interested in joining either group are invited to get in touch.

Send your views, suggestions and questions to V2G@elaad.nl before 25 October 2026. You are welcome to respond whether or not you attended the webinar.
